Every child in California deserves access to quality sports, play and physical activity. However, the current youth sports landscape is fragmented and unfair. The high-cost pay-to-play models, lack of facilities, lack of coaching standards, and inaccessible community sports programs deny many children the opportunity to achieve wellness, academic success and positive socioemotional development.
AB 749 – Youth Sports for All requires the California Health and Human Services Agency to establish a Blue-Ribbon Commission to examine the current landscape of youth sports and make recommendations for establishing a centralized entity to ensure fair access to quality sports programs for all youth in California.
AB 749 is the path forward to:
Stronger Safety & Coaching Standards
A Statewide Focus On Youth Development Through Sports
Improved Play Spaces In Communities
More Accessible Programs In Communities
